MailScale Privacy Policy

MailScale (“the app”, “we”) is a Shopify app that helps merchants create email marketing campaigns with AI assistance. This policy explains what data the app processes and how.

Data we collect and store

• Store information — your shop domain and basic store details provided by Shopify when you install the app.
• Product catalog (read-only) — the app reads your products, prices and images to build campaigns. It never modifies your products.
• Brand profile — colors, fonts and a short description of your brand, derived from your storefront to style your emails.
• Campaign content and assistant memory — the emails you create and short notes the assistant keeps to improve future campaigns for your store.
• Email platform API key — if you connect Omnisend or Klaviyo, your API key is stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM) and is used only to create draft campaigns and, on request, read your campaign statistics for the marketing review feature.
• Usage counters — how many campaigns you have created, for plan limits and billing.

AI processing

To generate campaign copy, designs and marketing reviews, the app sends your prompts, product details and brand profile to AI providers: Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI (GPT). This content is processed under those providers’ API terms and is not used by them to train models. We do not send your customers’ personal data to AI providers.

Your customers’ data

MailScale does not read, collect or store your customers’ personal data (names, emails, orders). The app responds to Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks: customer data requests return nothing because nothing is stored, and shop deletion requests permanently remove all stored data for the store.

Data retention and deletion

When you uninstall the app, all stored data for your store — including the encrypted email platform key, brand profile, campaign history and assistant memory — is permanently deleted, automatically confirmed by Shopify’s shop/redact webhook within 48 hours of uninstall.

Billing

All charges are handled by the Shopify Billing API. The app never sees or stores card details.
